Young Friends of the Earth Scotland get ready for their first elections at AGM in Glasgow

THE first AGM held by Young Friends of the Earth Scotland is scheduled to take place in Glasgow next weekend.

Elections, training sessions and discussions will be held across two days at Glasgow Autonomous Space in Kilbirnie Street.

The activist network is run by campaigners aged between 16 and 30 years old and is part of Young Friends of the Earth Europe and the Stop Climate Chaos coalition.

Workshops from the Women’s Environmental Network and the Ethnic Minorities Network will be take place.

There will also be a training event on how to be a legal observer at actions.

Among key areas of focus for the campaigners are empowering groups, working to create environmental, social, economic and gender justice, equity and anti-fascism.

The group said: “We believe that struggles against social and environmental injustice are more powerful when they are connected and we try to strengthen our movement by bringing young people from across the country together to share ideas, skills and resources.”

Members hold regular regional meet-ups, organise around events and work on campaigns.
